Ian Matthew-Clayton

Ian is the Vice President and Chief Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity (ID&E) Officer for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. In this role, he leads the implementation of a multi-year ID&E strategy and plan, developing programs, policies, and practices that foster an environment of inclusion and equity at Dana-Farber and supports the attraction, development, and retainment of a diverse workforce. He plays a central role to make significant improvements across 4 priority areas, including addressing cancer disparities in research; improving access to care and equitable outcomes; investing in our community to support healthy lives for all; and enhancing access to careers and advancement.

Prior to joining Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in April 2022, Ian served as Executive Director for Talent Acquisition at John Hopkins University where he led the design, development, and implementation of a university-wide talent acquisition strategy and strengthened the diversity hiring effort of the HopkinsLocal program.

As an immigrant from the Commonwealth of Dominica, Ian has always been aware of the value different cultural perspectives and experiences have in identifying solutions to societal problems. He has also seen how inequity and discrimination negatively impact communities and harm us for generations. Ian continues to nurture the path to a more just society with his hard work and dedication at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
