The compact

In a city where women make up more than half of the residents and half of the workforce, pay equity is not only the right thing to do, it is the smart thing to do. In partnership with the Mayor of Boston, the BWWC implements the 100% Talent Compact, a first-in-the-nation approach to reaching gender and racial pay equity.

To this day, over 250 Boston-area employers have signed the Compact and pledged to close gender and racial wage gaps in Greater Boston. Our Compact Signers are actively committed to examining their own salary data and practices and making changes where needed.

What we believe

Our core beliefs guide every aspect of our work.

When women are empowered to achieve their full potential and have equal participation and access to assets in the workforce, families are healthier, and communities are more vibrant.

In Boston, women make up more than half the residents and half the workforce and it is home to the best-educated female population in the nation.

It is critical for businesses to actively examine their employee data, measure their raw wage gaps, and create change in their organizations.

Biases and lack of access to promotions, bonuses, and flexibility can perpetuate inequities across all levels of an organization, even if equal pay for equal work is in place.

The Compact Seal

Over 250 employers have taken the pledge and are actively committed to making changes in their own organizations. The seal is a symbol of this pledge and commitment to gender and racial equity.

Our seal represents our Signers’ commitment to learning and reflection, refining policies and practices, and taking action to eliminate gender and racial wage gaps. It demonstrates their dedication to ensuring their workplaces are equitable and their employees are supported. It isn’t just about specific organizations and the work they are doing in their businesses. It is also about the work that over 250 organizations are doing to create a more equitable workforce in Greater Boston.
