About the 100% Talent Compact
In a city where women make up more than half of the residents and half of the workforce, pay equity is not only the right thing to do, it is the smart thing to do. In partnership with the City of Boston, the BWWC implements the 100% Talent Compact, a first-in-the-nation approach to reaching pay equity for working women. To this day, over 250 Boston-area employers have pledged to close the gender/racial wage gap in Greater Boston. Our Compact Signers are actively committed to examining their own salary data and practices and making changes where needed.
100% Talent Compact Core Beliefs
Communities that invest in all their human capital are better positioned to attract jobs. Employers who respect, value, and engage all of their employees are similarly better able to attract and retain talent.
When women are empowered to achieve their full potential and have equal participation and access to assets in the workforce, families are healthier, and communities are more vibrant. Women typically invest a higher proportion of earnings in their families and communities.
In Boston, women make up more than half the residents and half the workforce. Boston is also home to the best-educated female population in the nation and has a greater proportion of young women than any other city.
The wage gap signals that more can be done in both the public and private sectors to unleash the talent of all women - regardless of race, ethnicity, or age.
Employer interventions are among the most effective remedies to the gender/racial wage gap in Boston and contribute to enduring, positive change that benefits all employees.
100% Talent Compact Signers commit to:
Examining
…their employee data (measuring their raw wage gaps) and practices to assess whether or not a gender/racial wage gap exists; and if so, taking steps to eliminate the gap.
Contributing
…their employee data anonymously to the BWWC’s biennial wage gap measurement to create a snapshot of the gender/racial wage gap in Greater Boston.
Participating
…in quarterly briefing sessions and the annual Effective Practices Conference to learn about what is working, and sometimes, more importantly, not working according to cutting-edge research and the experience of fellow Compact Signers.
