2019 Innovative Initiatives Application: Everything You Need to Know

In partnership with Mayor Martin J. Walsh and the Boston Business Community, the BWWC has launched an annual process to recognize companies that demonstrate outstanding contributions and achievements for effective practices and innovative initiatives to either closing the gender pay gap and/or creating new opportunities for women within the company.

Have you revamped an ERG program that has driven results?

Have you developed a new referral program that has proven successful?

We want to hear from you and celebrate your efforts!

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We're looking for innovative initiatives that have had a measurable impact in the following categories:

ADDITIONAL CRITERIA

  • Applicant must be a 100% Compact Signer as of June 1st, 2019.

  • Applications will be reviewed and scored based on:

    • Measurable Initiative Impact

    • Innovation/Uniqueness

    • ROI/Cost per Impact

    • Complexity/Scalability

    • Demonstrated Management Commitment

WHY APPLY?

All applicants will be recognized at our first annual Innovators' Breakfast on June 13th at CIC-Boston. If you apply, please be sure to RSVP for this event. 100% Talent Compact Members wanting to support fellow members can RSVP at any time.

In addition to joining other innovative employers from the city this summer, here are other reasons why you should apply:

  • Be recognized as a leader in gender pay equality;

  • Become an employer of choice for top talent;

  • Celebrate your achievements and acknowledge the hard work of the people in your organization who have driven the changes;

  • Develop benchmarks for industry standards to see how own organization compares;

  • Be a part of a moral and economic movement.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • When is the deadline to apply?

    • Application cycle is now open and closes May 26, 2019 at 12am.

  • Do I have to be a 100% Talent Compact Member to apply?

    • While we welcome all employers to apply, applicants must be a 100% Talent Compact Signer as of June 1st, 2019.

  • How long is the application?

    • The application should take between 15 - 30 minutes to complete. If you have prepared answers for each question, the application should take 15 - 20 minutes. We recommend printing the questions and prepping in a separate document first before completing the survey answers online.

  • How do I know if my initiative is worth applying?

    • We believe that in order to move the needle in closing the gender wage gap in Boston, sharing effective practices with one another is critical. While we will be selecting winners for each category (listed above), we will celebrate every applicant that participated in this process. The initiatives should have high ROI and are not necessarily going to be large or high spend. If you tried something that worked surprisingly well, there may have been a process innovation that we’d love to hear about. We want to see your creativity!

  • Can my employer apply more than once?

    • Yes! Employers will only be awarded one winning category, however, this is about building community, so we welcome up to three submissions per employer.

  • I still have more questions - who should I ask?

Join us May 8th for a live ‘Ask Us Anything’ webinar with BWWC Executive Director, Shereen Shermak, and Mayor’s Office of Women’s Advancement’s Tania Del Rio to review the application process, criteria, FAQ, and more.

RSVP here.

A recording of the webinar will be posted here the day after.
